How Long Before You Finally Give Up and Move On?

I know I have said countless times again, that when the time comes for marriage, it will come. But, I would at least like to know that my significant other is remotely interested in marrying me. From my comments and questions on it, he always shuns away from it or tries to avoid the subject.

A year or so ago, he was hinting at just going to Las Vegas and getting married, but since then he seems to have changed his mind or it was all a sham to keep me around longer.

We've been together for 5 years and 5 months now, so how long would you wait around until someone finally decides to ask you to marry them? I'm definitely not in no big hurry to take the plunge, but I would just like a little bit of a clue if it will ever happen. My thoughts are leaning towards no, because he had a failed marriage prior and doesn't want to go through that again. How is it any different than what we're doing now? Only on paper -- is what I tell him.

I think after you've been with someone for that long, you SHOULD know whether or not they're the one. There isn't a person I would rather spend the rest of my life with, and yes even with his sarcastic mouth. It just wouldn't be him without it.

So why can't I hear those words from him? Men, learn to communicate better!

If it never happens, I don't know if I can live with that, because without marriage, there is no children and that is a big deal breaker for me.
